I'm posting this mostly because of the two pictures of the dam, which were taken only 4 minutes apart. They show how a skilled photographer can make a picture come out any way he wants, and how a rank amateur can stumble on to the same thing.
And they're both kind of scenic pictures.
The dam was built in the 1950's, the falls were there before, and created Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced Pond O'Ray) on the Pend Oreille River, a major tributary of the Columbia River.
The visitor center was closed, we only stopped there because it was on the way to dinner.
